Toronto Raptors Celebrate 20th Anniversary with Tribute to Vince Carter

@mrvincecarter15 will always remain a familiar name and sport jersey in the city of Toronto, to which Carter brought to life the meaning of basketball, by not only being the star player during his time here, but exhibited how the game is played at a high level, and still does today.

Carter and the Memphis Grizzlies were in town November 19 to face the Raptors at the Air Canada Centre; as The Toronto Raptors celebrate their 20th anniversary. Throughout this season the Toronto team will pay tribute to players who have played over the years, and last night the franchise showed their appreciation to 'Air Canada' the greatest player to suit up in their 20 year history, Vince Carter.

This was VC only scheduled stop this season in Toronto, so it was fitting the organization show respect to Carter on his career with The Raptors which was presented in a video montage that brought Carter to tears. The sell-out crowd acknowledged VC at the ACC with a standing ovation with Carter's mother who was also in attendance at the game. #1 NBA Draft Pick Andrew Wiggins Will Play Along Side LeBron James

Number one overall pick of the 2014 NBA draft is Toronto's own baller @22wiggins - Andrew Wiggins by the Cleveland Clavaliers; and Wiggins is the second consecutive Canadian player selected as a #1 NBA draft pick, behind Anthony Bennett.

Andrew Wiggins has had great accomplishments in his young basketball career, which is only just beginning and Wiggins could be on his way to the top sooner than expected. With the announcement today by LeBron James that he is heading back to the Cleveland Clavailers, in a written essay release, stating...."I'm not having a press conference or a party. After this, it's time to get to work." 

LISTEN: Keshia Chanté Auditions For ‘Aaliyah’ Biopic

Over the years there has been talk about a biopic of the late RnB princess #Aaliyah, and word through the web is hinting to an August 2014 airing. VH1 producers have been busy selecting the right actress for the starring role, and word has it Canadian RnB princess Keshia Chante who currently host of BET's 106 and Park is a top runner for the part.This comes after Keshia had already made a move for the role back in 2008, but production came to a stop after Aaliyah's family were not fully on board with the project.

NEW MUSIC: Teenage Metal/ Rock Band 'Unlock The Truth' Opening for Rock Icons Guns N Roses

Talented teenage metal band @UnlocktheTruth3 will open for @gunsnroses for two shows at The Joint in Las Vegas in June. These 7th graders write their own lyrics and create their own heavy metal/ hard rock music; the founding members are Malcolm (electric guitar) and Jarad (drums), to rounded out the trio is Alec (bass guitar), and they are from Brooklyn, New York.

The group announced via their Facebook "We're excited to announce that we'll be opening for Guns N' Roses twice at 'The Joint' in Vegas in June!" For ticket info check here and watch their live performance inside...

You may have heard by now, of the return of #MichaelJackson via hologram at the 2014 #BBMAs Billboard Music Awards, if you missed it, you can watch the performance here after the jump. The after death performance received mixed reviews, having some in tears, others in a daze of amazement, and others calling it 'creepy'. Myself, honestly as much as technology can be a wonderful thing that enhances lives even in the world of entertainment; I believe it would have been best to let the man rest - Michael Jackson barely was able to rest while he was living, and not long after the King of Pop passed, there was a movie release about the music icon....Just give it (him) and his family some time; in addition, I can't imagine what it was like (if the family) watch the performance! New School R&B vs. Old School R&B

This is NOT my kind of thing, however after viewing a BET 106 & Park video interview featuring an up-and-coming R&B artist #AugustAlsina who is from New Orleans; I was a bit confused .....with not only some of music coming out today in the world of Rhythm and Blues (??), but also the artists as far as how they portray themselves to the public. August Alsina’s debut album Testimony was released yesterday and he stopped by ‘106 & Park’ as a promotional stop to debut his new video “Grind & Pray/Get Ya Money" featuring Fabolous, and when asked by co-host and Canadian RnB songtress #KeishaChante if August was willing to settle a beef he has with fellow RnB singer Trey Songz who he has worked with previously (I am not clear and not interested in what their bickering is about), August popped-off at Keisha and cursed on live television! Hmmmmm

Drake Hits The Streets In Disguise On Jimmy Kimmel Live - To Ask People What They Think Of Him

The North Star @Drake was a guest last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Drake brushed up on his acting skills once again, and hit the streets dressed in disguise as part of  “Lie Witness News”. Drizzy was disguised as a hippy/ nerdy type man in beard and wig - basically he looked like a white guy with a beard (come on) and ask random passer-by what their thoughts were about rap artist Drake!

T.O. SPOTLIGHT: Orlando Franklin

@OFranklin74 was born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to Toronto at the ago of three and this is where the seed was planted in Franklin's life, and grew to become an outstanding NFL player, that made his debut in Super Bowl 2014.

Orlando Franklin played college football at the University of Miami and was selected 14th in the second round draft, 46th overall by the Denver Broncos in the 2011 NFL Draft. He became the first right tackle and the sixth offensive lineman overall in the team's history to start every regular-season game as a rookie.

The AFC Champion is 26 year old, 6 foot 7", 320 lbs Offensive Lineman climbed the latter to success, however each step was challenging to say the least; and Franklin shared his story to students a couple years back in 2012, when he visited St. Patrick Catholic High School in Toronto. His current life story, which began when he moved from Jamaica to Toronto at the age of 3 with his mother Sylvia Allen and older brother, is a propelling story involving various life altering circumstances for Franklin that included two occasions in custody, homeless shelters, foster homes, and a mother who never gave up on her son.

In case you missed it, @BrunoMars performed during yesterday's Super Bowl Halftime show, and he and his band did a great job! They performed as they usually do, staying in their elements and not over doing it due to the occasion; however they did bring on an oldie but a goodie, seven time Grammy Award winners, now legendary Punk Funk Rock band formed in 1983 - Red Hot Chili Peppers....with lead singer Anthony Kiedis looking the same, well some what the same!!

In case you missed @Drake on Saturday Night Live, check out the full show (before it gets taken down), his Degrassi work came in handy, Drizzy is not shy in front of the cameras and the skits were funny! Drake also performed his hits songs "Started From The Bottom", "Hold On We're Going Home", "Trophies", and featuring Jhene Aiko "From Time".

New Music: Dan-E-O Immortal EP and Inevitable Album

@Daneo10 is an artist not to be slept on, if anything he is breathing life into Hip Hop with his recent releases of 'Immortal' EP and full-length album 'Inevitable'. The Emcee and actor born and raised in Toronto of Spanish and Jamaican descent, lives and breathes Hip Hop music since the age of 13, and the culture means so much to the veteran MC he even wrote a letter to confess his everlasting love in the 1996 classic Dear Hip Hop which launched Dan-E-O's career.

Although Dan-E-O's latest releases are solo projects, he meshes well with other artists, and has worked with many including Choclair, Maestro Fresh Wes, Rascalz, Wio-K, and Kardinal Offishall just to name a few....Collective projects are also notable in his work. One of the stand out groups coming out of Canada is Monolith - the group released the EP 'The Lone Awaited' in 1998; and currently Dan-E-O is working as part of a duo group partnering with fellow MC Promise, together known as Perfeck Strangers.
